the bonnet (a la ZZ Top 34), no guards, jag rear end, independent front, running a 289 Hi-po. Work began.
I purchased the personalised plate ‘Coupe’ and registered the car in 1987.
In the late ‘90s, the Govt introduced the VIN System for all cars, as a 'Vehicle identification number’. I had my vehicle in Wellington at the time at Graham Berry Engineering for service and a few mods. Graham certified the Coupe. By chance my coupe was to be the fourth vehicle registered on the VIN Registrar, hence its VIN no. NZHRA 0004.
The Coupe was used and driven regularly. This vehicle drove well and all aspects of the car worked well. Jenny often drove with confidence. A 5L Ford EFI motor with auto was fitted. (The Hi-po with manual was too aggressive.)
The Coupe has received a number of Accolades, often as ‘People's Choice’ at various shows. In 2014 the Coupe was stored in NZ then later shipped to Brisbane in 2022.
In November 2022 it was heat damaged by fire while in a service garage on the Gold Coast.
The decision and recommendation was made to take the Coupe to Noosa Customs and Classics, Rene Street, for restoration and repaint.
The compliance and certification for RWC has required a few chassis modifications. The new colour will be Madza ‘crystal candy red’ and the rego plate will be ‘ROD’.
