     TRIVIA
AFTERNOON
22nd April
@ RSL Cooroy
We had 7 teams of 6 brainstorming and enthusiastic contestants eager for quizzing at our annual Trivia event.
After lunch and a few noggins there were lots of groans over questions that could not be answered and loud whispers followed by a few “I know that one!” comments.
More groans when answers came up, and teams realised that very often it IS the obvious answer that is correct.
There were questions across a wide range of subjects from knitting and cooking to techno stuff re engines and spot the F1 driver from the 1960s. The Roadrunner Management Committee had volunteered photos of themselves as ‘youngsters’ and there was a lot of speculation as to who was who: not quite sure why when someone was not identified the call was “it must be Myra” which happened on a number of occasions :-)
The leading teams were tracked by scorer treasurer John Hewitt and it was not all plain sailing [driving] as the leading teams did alter along the way. Some overtaking occurred, and some went into the pitstop and never came out!
CONGRATULATIONS TO OUR WINNERS.
The winning team was the TRIUMPH TERRORS who won a box of assorted wines and chocs.
2nd place went to the WOLSELEY WINNERS who won a box of assorted wines.
The lowest scorers of the afternoon, the MG MARVELS, were all awarded a chastening dunces hat amid much laughter from everyone. Jack and Magali did a losers dance to much applause.
During the afternoon various on-the-spot prizes were given for some off-the-cuff questions. Paul Grey won the hefty door prize – a basket full of goodies.
My thanks to members who contributed to the event. Will Johns was an entertaining and knowledgeable Quizmaster; Judy Bickly assisted with various tasks and collecting the score sheets; John Hewitt was scorer; Anne McGovern provided the door prize; Ken McGregor had fun in Dan Murphy buying the winners wine/prizes and constructing the dunces hats. There was applause and kind things said thanking me for organising the event and collating the quiz + the on- screen presentation.
My sincere thanks to everyone for all the compliments.
