450 B
EBR Performance had another rider up on podium in the 450B class as Carter Halpain scored a set of 2-1 finishes in order to snag the overall victory. Zane Merrett put his KTM in close contention and finished 2nd overall as Blake Hansen rounded out the box with 6-5 moto finishes. The first moto produced another Lance Kobusch holeshot as he rocketed away at the front of the pack with Carter Halpain and Zane Merrett in tow, respectively. Halpain kept Kobusch in check throughout most of the moto, clocking the fastest lap of the race on his 450cc machine midway through the race, but Kobusch was able to outlast
the valiant effort and grab the checkered flag 5.2 seconds ahead
of the Yamaha rider. Merrett put in
a solid performance as he held onto 3rd place for the entire moto. The eventual overall podium finisher of Blake Hansen had to work his way back from a tough start, finding himself in 10th place at the end
of the first lap. He clawed his way through the pack early on, working himself into 6th position by the fourth lap of the moto and held on firmly for the remainder of the race. Kobusch opted out out of the second race, leaving the overall up for grabs between Halpain and Merrett. The EBR Yamaha rider out of Texas pulled the holeshot and left his fellow Texan behind from the drop of the gate. The track had gotten really rough by the end of the day and
it was very risky to push the pace
in the choppy conditions. Halpain built a gap that amounted to 10.3 seconds over Merrett by the time
the checkered flag flew. Meanwhile, Blake Hansen put in another stellar charge through the pack after resurging from a 10th place start; this time he was able to work his
way all the way up to 4th position, making a pass on the very last lap
to complete his charge. Race Baker put his Honda on the final spot of the podium, but his 9th place finish in the first moto tainted his overall score.
