It was a battle of the flying J’s throughout the week, in both of the Girls Sr. (12-16) and Women’s (14+) Amatuer classes that is. In a six set, battle royale, it was Jazzmyn Canfield and Jordan Jarvis, whose
names were thoroughly repeated throughout the announcing system. Truly raising the bar for the rest of the competition to aspire, Jazzmyn found herself battling Jarvis tooth and nail in both first moto’s, just being clipped by the North Carolina native by race end. Posting nearly identical laptimes, it was just a matter of time before the two would meet again, and provide a spectacular show for the fans. In the second motos, Canfield saw the stars align, and a forecast of first’s came to fruition. Getting out to early leads, she began to swap paint with Jarvis, running her to the edges of the racetrack. Competent of her surroundings, but never distracted enough to slow her pace, and focus her direct attention on matters behind her. It was enough for two exhilarating wins, one in both the (12-16), and 14+ class respectively. And it all came down to this, the glorified third moto’s. It would be here where the dust (mud in this case) would settle, and a champion would emerge. May the best woman win. The 14+ class saw Canfield off to a fifth place start, something not to her liking, as Jarvis jolted out to an early race lead, setting the tone for the laps were to come. Charging through the pack with all of her might, she began to rally lap after lap, but unfortunately not enough was in her favor, and she would bring home both a second place finish and overall. In the final moto of the (12-16) division, Canfield’s mishap on lap one would cost her a huge amount of time, and leave her frantically working through the field. Making her way into second by lap five, it was too little too late, although she would set the fastest laptime of the moto. She would go on to finish second, and second overall as well. A spectacular performance in all facets, the Floridian showed a lot of promise and laid a foundation for talent filled career. Best of luck Jazzmyn, the ability is apparent and many can’t wait to see what’s in store for the years to come.
