JAKE MASTERPOOL
It’d be practically impossible to find a tighter bond in the motocross community than that of the Masterpool family. Jerry Masterpool, father of Jake and younger brother Ty, has used his experience as an Olympic level trainer to help his sons graduate to the forefront of amateur motocross. They train at their family run facility in Paradise, TX that is called ‘His 956 Facility’ in honor of their late brother Jesse. Jerry is one of
the most humble, unassuming guys out on the track, but his knowledge and qualifications could stand toe to toe with the most decorated trainers in the sport.
He has Olympic medals, international, national, and amateur titles as a part of his lengthy resume and over thirty years of experience training athletes at the top of their game. His unorthodox training techniques shine through the riding style of Jake as he is incredibly easy to spot on the track. He often rides with his
head down and emulates a somewhat European
riding style, using his length to control how his weight is distributed across the motorcycle. Jake won his
first national title back in 2014 at the James Stewart Spring Championships at Freestone with a stellar performance in the Schoolboy 1 class. From that point forward, he has steadily improved year after year to become one of the most highly touted amateur riders in the B class this year. He has been logging podiums and victories throughout the entire 2016 season leading up to Loretta’s, especially impressing on the 450cc machine which he is very well suited for due to his height and technical riding style. Masterpool took the 450 B Limited and Mod titles at both the California Classic as well as the JS7 Spring Championship.
He continued his stellar results with an impressive showing on the 250cc machine in the JuniorMotoX with a pair of overall victories. The Monster Energy backed Masterpool will be representing the Horton Racing Yamaha team at Ranch for 2016 and he’ll be looking to snag his first Loretta’s title.
