The SuperMini divisions always provide a showcase, displaying the who’s who in talented names of amateur motocross. Riders are beginning to hit the age when aggression levels begin to soar; the emotions, coupled with the pressure of team owner’s begin- ning to pin point their targets via radar, can make some competi-
tors break. Others, such as Hammaker, relish. With a cast of outlaws surrounding him, Hammaker knew his work would be far from easy when packing the gate for the Supermini 2 division. Regardless, the PA native put on the blinders and jolted from the line, taking an early lap one lead. Peaking over his shoulder after a few laps, an orange blur began to come into view; it was Joe Shimoda. Shimoda would go onto hound the Kawasaki captain, eventually making his way around, and being Hammaker’s biggest rival; with solid 2-5-2 scores, Seth would walkaway with a hefty dose of hardware, and still having a clean slate of Super- mini 1 competitors to devour.
A sixth place start to the Supermini 1 division’s opening moto found Hammaker in a comfortable position, but still pushing the feeling of complacency out the door. He would have his fastest laptime of the moto on lap three, but the impressive matter being his last was only a second off his highlight; he would go on to fin-
ish fourth. Moto two Hammaker emerged as the alpha dog, sprinting from the doghouse, salivating at the turkey bone (in this case, gold medal) and never look- ing back. A very impressive run, he would head into the final royale sitting pretty. While pondering amongst his thoughts on the line for moto 3, Hammaker knew he had a tad bit of cushion for the championship, but as any true competitor knows, he wanted to win with a solid effort. After handing the lead over to Joe Shimoda on lap two, the young man would go on to take his step amongst the top of the podium, claiming that pristine number one plate.
