>> Wondrous green pastures, surrounded by barricades of picturesque mountains. Birds are chirping in numerous amounts of trees, nesting all along these green hillsides. It’s a perfect place of meditation and Zen, as many tourists in the area are coming to the Lakewood area in hopes of tranquility. However, those who arrived Saturday morning, were a bit rattled and overtaken by the thunder that roared deep within the bowl of this alpine setting. Sights of zinging 250f’s ripping around this rugged terrain, were baf ing to the naked eye, with Jeremy Martin standing out in particular. Leaning towards the back of this motorcycle, merely holding on with only his ngers and knees, he would cat- apult into the stratosphere, dropping the jaws of many in attendance. Scoping the track for numerous creative lines, his off the wall paths would generate into surging lap-times, in constant rotation at the top of the leaderboard. Beyond pleased with his effort, he would high ve fans as he exited the raceway, back towards the semi area. As moto one approached, it was almost as if he ipped the switch into a stoic, emotionless warrior, willing to seek and destroy any target in his way. Ripping off of the starting line and up the rst hill, the eld would dive to this sweeping right-hander. Throughout the rst lap, he would linger near fourth. Inching his way nearer and nearer, the small statured Geico Honda rider would really be obtaining momentum down the multitude of downhills. Eye- ing the number fourty- ve near lap six, he couldn’t stand to sit behind Smith any longer, and would force the issue, completing the pass. Justin Cooper, who was second, was just a bit ahead of him and although the gap was decently close, the move wouldn’t
be made; however Joey Savatgy, the race leader, would be overtaken by a large bit of misfortune. His bike would seize, pushing Martin to second by the end of the moto.
Moto number two would be just around the corner, and before he knew it, levers would be clashing throughout the opening sequences of the green ag. Looking to repeat his rst moto performance, he would quickly hound his brother for the lead in the early go- ing. Simulating a backyard battle at their infamous Millville track, Jeremy would begin
to nip at the heels of his elder. Searching and searching for lines, he would make the move a few laps in, absolutely blistering around the outside of the downhill, where Eli Tomac crashed just a few short years ago. Martin, now out into the lead and looking to set a blistering pace, would take off, laying down numerous solid laps. The win would be his for the taking, and the overall on the podium couldn’t have been given to him in any sweeter fashion.
