It was a step in the right direction for the #3 of Eli Tomac and his 2016 AMA Pro Motocross cham- pionship campaign. Although Moto 1 was a bit of a disappointment after finally getting a good start and actually reeling in the current points leader Ken Roczen for the lead. Eli set the fastest lap while
running Roczen down and popped the front tire out of a tight right hander and dropped back to 7th. Many where expecting the Factory Kawasaki rider to put on the charge back to the front, unfortunately he only made it up to 6th. The 30 second board turned sideways and race 2 was underway, Eli didn’t get the jump like he did in the first moto but he was well inside of the top 10. It didn’t take long for ET3 to get up into the top 3 around Barcia, shortly after he also got around fastest qualifier Jason Anderson. The hunt was on and Eli was setting lap times faster than the #94 Soaring Eagle Suzuki rider of Ken Roczen. Tomac put in a valiant effort but came up short, the speed he showed this weekend was much greater than the past 3 rounds and hopefully the “old” Tomac will show up soon.
