Bradley Taft may have outshone many people’s expectations this year at the Daytona RCSX.
He didn’t have the most electrifying heat race results, just doing what he needed to in order to qualify for main events. But, for those that were there to watch the racing, his results are even bet-
ter than they appear to be on paper. In the first 250 A moto, Taft pulled a decent start that placed him somewhere in the top 5, but instead of getting sucked into the outside of the corner like so many riders did, he set up for the 2nd corner by hugging the inside. Consequently, he had the preferred line and shot out of the inside rut into the lead, essentially making 3 or 4 passes in the space of two corners. Taft scrubbed the wall jump with aggression and looked to check out, but he made a mistake in the tricky switchback after the finish line and washed the front end powering out of a rut. He ended up dropping back to 9th position and fought his way back to 6th by the end of the race.
