>> Ryan Surratt is a rider known for his incredible style. The young rookie is
a popular rider at the southern California tracks and is now trying to make a name for his self on the national level. Many wondered if Ryan’s speed would ever match his style and it looks as though he has figured it out. Ryan seems
to be going faster than ever this year and is looking to make the first Main of his career this weekend in Anaheim. As the day started, the track wasn’t as wet as expected and Ryan focused on getting his fast time in quickly. Ryan qualified with an impressive 16th fastest time and went into the races with some confi- dence. When the gate dropped for 250 Heat 1, Ryan was ready as he launched off to a fantastic start. He rounded the first corner just outside the top five but was shuffled back quickly as the riders piled into the next few corners. Ryan settled into 9th place and was pushing hard to maintain the position. On the last lap, Scott Champion started to show Ryan a wheel and was able to make a pass on him. Ryan fought back with a couple of pass attempts but none would stick. Ryan would go on to the LCQ. When the gate dropped for this race, Ryan was determined to get into his first Main Event ever. He was able to hold 2nd place all the way to the checkered flag and make a great accomplishment in
his new career. He had a horrible gate pick in the Main and was forced to the very outside going into the first turn. So far outside in fact, that he went off the track and had to re-enter in the next section. Ryan put his head down and got around a few guys quickly as he made his way back up into 13th place. Then, on about the fourth lap, the chewed up Anaheim track got the best of him as
he dropped back to 17th position. Ryan brushed the dirt off his shoulders and was able to capitalize on other rider’s mistakes as he slid back up into the 15th position. Ryan continued to push and was able to make up another position but only temporarily, as a hard charging Jeremy Martin demanded the position. This move allowed two more riders to pass Ryan and it seemed he was ready for the night to be over. He would take home a commendable 17th place in Anaheim. Not bad for a first Main Event!
