Schmidt knows the secret to making it to the night show at every round, but is still learning the trick to a consis- tent main event. Tonight he might have just unlocked that secret. Getting a good start in his heat race he runs a solid seventh for most of the race, but falling back a bit to finish it off with a tenth. With a decent gate pick in the semi he once again gets a good start putting him exactly where he needed to be to get that transfer spot. He runs the entire race in fourth place moving on to the main. With his run of good starts through the night it is no surprise that he starts the main with a comfortable mid pack position. As the race progresses Alessi gets by him with Mus- quin following suit shortly after leaving Schmidt in fifteenth. Then out of nowhere he falls back to nineteenth and has to work his way forward once again. Being back in seventeenth now behind Friese, Bopping makes the pass pushing Schmidt back to eighteenth. He wasn’t ready to give up yet and gets Bopping back right at the end of the race leaving him with a seventeenth overall.
