#39 Jordon Smith- After finishing 5th and 3rd the first two rounds of the season you can’t help but think that the factory backed Geico Honda rider Jordon Smith is feeling a little upset about his performance at round 3 finish- ing 6th.
Smith had a relatively calm night finishing where he started in both his heat race and main event. Starting 4th in his heat race behind Cooper Webb, teammate Chris- tian Craig and Kyle Peters in 3rd . Jordon was in the perfect position to make quick moves on Kyle Peters and prove to Webb that he can match his pace. Instead Smith would get around Peters on lap 2 and by that time Craig and Webb had a nice cushion on the #39. This is exactly where Jordon would finish his heat race and transfer directly into the main event.
Jumping to a 6th place start Smith would run in that position until lap 4 where he would get by fellow teammate Jimmy Decotis. The top three, Craig, Webb, and Savatgy where clearly on another level at the early stages of the race. Sa- vatgy crashed in the steep whoops on lap 6 of 15 handing 4th place to Jordon Smith which was short lived when Decotis got back around . Although Savatgy had some mis- fortune fighting for a podium posi- tion before his crash in the whoops he was able to crawl back into fifth, leaving Jordon with his first race of the season outside of the top 5.
Positives:
-Leaving round 3 with good points -Staying off of the ground and rid- ing a clean smooth race
-Still top 5 in points
Negatives:
-Could not stay in the top 5 -fell in point standings -Lack of intensity
