>> The young rookie Chase Sexton has been making quite a statement his breakout
year for Monster Energy AMA Supercross, even earning himself a podium along the way. Riding a strong practice the Geico Honda rider qualified as the fifth fastest for the night. Heading into the big show with confidence, the rookie was looking to grab himself another podium position. As he lined up for the first race if the night, Sexton looked incredibly comfortable aboard his Geico Honda when the gate dropped. Flying into the first turn
he was running near the front spots as chaos ensued behind him. After a close call from some slick track conditions, Sexton began riding smarter eventually passing Melross for third place. Setting some of the fastest laps of the heat race, the rookie was going into the main event for round five of Monster Energy AMA Supercross as one of the fastest riders. Unfortunately when the gate dropped for the main event he wasn’t the quickest
out leaving him back around sixteenth through the first turn. With a lot of time to make
up, Sexton was quick to steal positions making his way into tenth place just a couple laps into the race. The rookie looked as if he had been racing Supercross for years, staying smart on the tricky conditions for the night he was able to move up to seventh place with a little under half of the race still left. He began putting the pressure onto Mitchell Harri- son, eventually holding onto the pass for sixth place. Not getting the best start left Chase Sexton spending his entire main event fighting his way back to the front, but with a well deserved sixth place finish it won’t be long until we see the young rookie back on the podium once again.
