>> After an eighth place overall last weekend in Tennessee, the num- ber 17 arrived in Michigan looking for solid results. The sand to soil ratio was perfect and the Redbud energy was electric as Monster Energy Pro Circuit Kawasaki’s Joey Savatgy lined up for, what was bound to be an exciting, first 250 moto. Spirits were high was the gates dropped and Savatgy propelled through the sandy terrain, coming out of the first turn in the twelfth place spot. Joey Savatgy quickly found eleventh place as his bike danced beneath him on the choppy downhills and whooped out high-speed sections. The Florida native rode consistently and carefully with each passing lap and was able to cross the finish line in eleventh place. Savatgy knew that if he brought those same strong and steady laps into the second moto, he would be looking at an overall within the top ten. Redbud is notorious for it’s challenging obstacles, rough evolv- ing terrain, and sand buried rocks surfacing toward the end of the day. Focus was key if these riders wanted the second moto results that they were so desperately seeking. The thirty-second board went up and moto two action was underway in Buchanan. Off to a better start in the second moto, Savatgy and his Kawasaki were in the seventh place
spot as he escaped first turn drama and careened off the ski jump. Joey Savatgy looked confident as he launched the famous Larocco’s Leap early in the moto. After passes from McElrath and J. Mart, Joey Savatgy finished the second moto in the tenth place spot. With consistent 11-10 moto finishes, Savatgy left Michigan with a fantastic tenth place overall. Hopefully he can find another top ten for round seven at Southwick.
