JDBEACH
Although he was almost a full second behind Debise’s
pole position lap time, Beach has proven himself to be
more of a racer throughout his career -- always rising
to the occasion when the lights go out. The first race
brought with it a fair amount of carnage as it didn’t
even reach the halfway point before it was red flagged
Beach took advantage of the restart and shot into the first corner like a missile,
claiming the lead with authority. He did his best to utilize his flat tracking skills in the hard braking sections of the track in a game of chicken with Valentin Debise that ultimately cost him the lead -- Beach overcooked the anchors coming into the final corner and ended
up running over the curb, paddling his way through
the gravel as he lost a number of positions one after another. The Yamaha rider dropped back towards
the edge of the top ten behind Daytona Anderson,
but he never showed any signs of frustration as he immediately began to carve his way through the pack. Beach consistently worked his way back through the field, eventually finding himself behind the CBR600
of Benny Solis Jr. with only a couple of laps to go in
an impressive display of sharpened race craft. The Kentucky resident had allowed the frontrunners to escape, but he still managed to set the fastest lap of the race and salvage third position after a potentially costly mistake. In the second race, Beach established himself as the leading Yamaha as he settled into second place behind Valentin Debise throughout the early stages. The top three settled down compared to the first race as they paced one another, calmly waiting for somebody to make the first move. As the halfway point passed, Beach came under pressure from his teammate and was forced to concede second position. The 2015 supersport champ did his best to remount
an attack on the leading duo, but he was just shy of
the pace that they were able to run throughout the final laps, and he settled for third position and a heaping handful of championship points.
due to an ontrack incident.
