Michael Gilbert emerged as a major contender in the Superstock
The Yamaha rider experienced some ups and downs throughout the
2016 season, but he still managed to build off of his debut year by finishing on the podium on multiple occasions, including a win at New Jersey Motorsports Park. He grew up racing motocross from the young age of three years old, but decided to make the
dedication to the MotoAmerica series as a racer, Gilbert also works as a full-time editor for Sport Rider. Many years of taking charge of his own racing program, wheeling and dealing with sponsors, and acting as his own agent prepared him for the two-pronged lifestyle. The twenty year old continues to keep up with the commotion
of being a full-time employee and a part-time racer, but racing is not something that can be calculated through hours spent in the garage, on the bike, or in the gym -- it’s a way of life.
