In the second race, Smith wasn’t as fortunate off the grid as he fell back to third place on the opening
He was able to stay in contention for the lead throughout the first half of the race, battling back and forth with Beauchamp and Dumas all the way until the final laps. In a carbon copy of the first race, Smith saved his plan of attack for the final portion of the race and pounced on the lead as time ran out, going onto win the race by a healthy gap of one second ahead of Beauchamp.
