KAED KNIFFING
KAED KNIFFING
Kaed Kniffing was one of the most impressive
riders throughout the Road to Mammoth qualifiers that competed in the Supermini and Schoolboy classes. The young Californian has put himself on the nationwide amateur motocross map with the Rides Unlimited KTM squad in 2017, scoring top ten finishes at the JS7 Spring Championships as well as the Daytona Ricky Carmichael Amateur Supercross. In addition to his exceptional results at the spring nationals, Kniffing also earned two top five overalls at the California Classic, proving his comfortability in his home state heading into the fiftieth annual running of Mammoth Motocross. Kniffing was set
to contest the Schoolboy 1 and 2 classes, the 125 (12-16) B/C class, and the FMF Two-Stroke class throughout the weekend. The action started in
the Schoolboy 2 class where he showed some incredible race craft in his heat race, charging back from a mediocre start to salvage a fifth place finish. The #85 started outside the top ten and worked his way all the way back to fifth place by the fourth lap, earning his spot in the main event with a bolstering of confidence to boot. Unfortunately, the next time that Kniffing set out on track, a nasty crash caused him to suffer a hematoma on his lower back. The swelling kept him out of contention for the rest of the weekend, sending him back home to regroup and rest up for the big show at Loretta Lynn’s in the beginning of August.
