MAMMOTH!
JORDAN JARVIS
Jordan Jarvis was one of the most highly anticipated amateur racers contesting the Women (12+) class
at the fiftieth annual running of Mammoth Motocross. The North Carolina native also contested the Schoolboy 1 class and the 125 (12-16) B/C class, giving all of the boys a run for their money. She started off with a pair of solid motos in the Schoolboy class, running an impressive top ten pace on her way to a twelfth and eleventh place finish which gave her tenth overall. In the 125 class, she bounced back from
an unlucky first moto to earn a sixth place finish in the second moto, propelling her to a seventh place finish in the overall standings. She grabbed a start within the top ten and found herself behind the orange rear fender of Noah Stallings with pressure from TJ Taylor on her tail. She remained calm and composed after working her way into sixth position, matching the lap times of those around her, eventually crossing the checkered flag in sixth position. Jarvis went on to lay down some dominant performances in the Women (12+) class in the scenic mountains of Mammoth Lakes, California. The North Carolina native made the trip all the way from the east coast in order to take advantage of primetime bear hunting season, ridding her competitors of the opportunity to capture some game of their own. The teenager put together two flawless rides as she went 1-1 on her way to the championship, but both motos presented two completely different scenarios. In the first moto, Jarvis grabbed the holeshot on her Yamaha rocketship and immediately laid the hammer down, setting the fastest lap of the race almost immediately. She built
a sizable gap and maintained it all the way until the checkered flag, taking the victory with an advantage of almost eight seconds at the finish line. In the second moto, Jarvis found herself with a bit of work to do as she came out in third place at the start. She quickly worked her way into second place, then set the fastest lap of the moto as she closed in on the leader. On the very last lap, Jarvis forced her way into the lead in order to steal the overall victory away and grab a championship to take back to North Carolina.
