>> Kyle Chisolm was faced with a handful of decisions this offsea- son. The seasoned veteran has enjoyed a successful career but his best days are clearly past him. He had no appealing offers from race teams and rumors of retirement circulated but then he made a move that came as a bit of surprise. He joined up forces with MotoConcepts Honda to race in the 250 West Coast series. An unusual move for a wily vet but he fit the teams needs and decided to have some fun rac- ing with the young guns.
He kicked off his Saturday in San Diego with a strong fourteenth fast- est lap time in practice and was more than ready to put his machine into the main event. His journey to that main event would not come without stress as a bad start put him outside the top ten to start his heat race. He didn’t panic and slowly maneuvered into eighth to finish and secure his ticket to the main.
Once in the main, he got off to a quick start matching his starting position with his racing number, 11. He was just outside of the top ten where he’d like to be but before he could mount an effort to move up he would go down and would not remount until he was in twentieth place. A huge bummer but the Chiz as they call him would stay out there and work up to sixteenth place. It was a strong ride but not the result he would have liked and he will surely come back with a ven- geance to try and get back in the top ten once again at Anaheim.
