>> Cole Seely has secured his self as a solid top five finisher in American Supercross. He has had some amazing rides in the past and it would not be a surprise if we see him at the top step of the podium before the end of the season. Cole started off 2017 with a solid 6th place last weekend
in Anaheim. He was determined to improve in San Diego and he looked very quick as the qualifying session began in Petco Park. Cole qualified inside the top ten and was clearly ready for round 2. He got off to a mid pack start when the gate dropped for 450 Heat 2 and knew he had a lot of work to do if he wanted to get a good gate pick for the Main. He began to slice and dice and had made his way into 6th place by the third lap. Cole was able to make the pass on Cooper Webb for 5th with a couple laps
left but unfortunately, 4th place was too far up to catch at this point. Cole would go on to the Semi where he would get a great start. He pulled a commanding holeshot and led flawlessly from start to finish. In the Main, he got a decent jump off the line but was shuffled back a bit in the first corner. As the chaos settled down through the first couple corners, Cole was running 6th place. He then was able to capitalize on another riders mistake, and slipped into 4th place on just the second lap. Then, with
ten minutes left to go on the clock, he began to feel some pressure from Tomac. As they came around the next lap, Eli was able to triple into a section that Cole was unable to do and it was good enough for the pass. Then, in the very next corner, Anderson had crept up enough to also capi- talize on Seely’s mistake, setting him back two positions in two seconds. Cole regained himself and started to speed back up. With about four minutes left on the race clock, Seely was able to make the move on Eli in the same section that Eli passed him. This time it was Eli who was unable to triple, and Cole capitalized. Cole would maintain his position all the way to the finish where he would be counted for 5th place in San Diego.
