>> Ben Lamay put his TiLube / Jack Link’s / TUF Racing Honda in fifth place overall after timed qualifying came to a close in Michi- gan. Lamay was able to follow the hot lines from his teammate, Owen, in the second heat race in order to finish third and put himself into the Head 2 Head challenge. He had his elbows up in his first two-lapper against Yamaha’s Chris Blose as he took the front wheel out from under the #2 blue machine. He advanced to the next round where he was promptly dispatched by Faith, but he showed his speed and aggressiveness heading into the main with the first win. Lamay put himself in a good position out of the gate in the first main event, but a crash throughout the opening laps would put him at a severe disadvantage in the long haul.
He dropped to the tail-end of the field, but was eventually able to work his way back up to eleventh position before the race was over. The second main event was hindered for the Alaskan of by his start; he came across the line in eleventh position and was only able to advance two positions, partly due to Faith’s mistake in the early laps of the race. On a night where the track kept all of the competitors on their toes, it’s a testament to his composure and riding ability to stay as consistent as he did and bring it home in ninth place.
