>> Having a difficult time during Round 1 of the 2017 Super- cross season, Tyler Bowers was looking for revenge in San Di- ego. Out of the gate in heat two, the #52 seemed hungry with a top-ten spot. Making some quick work, Tyler pushed into 5th to complete lap one and the race was on. Holding the spot down strong, Bowers seemed to settle there until late in the race when Jimmy Decotis found his way around. Not giving
in, Tyler picked a spot back up on the second to last lap, get- ting around Phil Nicoletti, and was able to keep the 5th place spot for the checkered flag. Hoping for a better finish than last week, Bowers powered his Yamaha to an 8th place start in the main event, where he would ride most of his race. Picking up
a spot with a mistake from Phil Nicoletti, just like the heat race, Bowers moved into 7th. Unfortunately faltering in the middle of the race, Tyler relinquished the spot back to Filthy Phil and was back to 8th. Two laps later, Bowers couldn’t hold off the hard charge of Jeremy Martin, dropping to 9th as the race was reaching the final lap. Bowers seemed to have the top-ten spot wrapped up for the finish but the white flag proved a bad sign for Tyler, as the #52 dropped two more spots to Josh Hansen and Hayden Mellross on the final lap. Finishing 11th for the second week in a row, Bowers now knows where he sits and can begin to make in-roads towards the top ten as the season continues.
