>> Struggling out of the gate in his heat race, Marquier was well outside the top ten for the first lap and forced himself
to battle from behind. The task wasn’t too tough for Chase though, as the #99 was able to find 9th and the last transfer spot by the end of lap one. Marquier made contact with the #71 of Justin Starling but was able to keep the wheels on the ground and made his way by for 8th place with one lap to
go, finishing there a lap later. In the main, Marquier struggled out of the gate but made some moves within the first few minutes and pushed forward a few spots to find 14th. From there, Chase’s race became rather stagnant. The #99 battled hard with Justin Starling and fought for position with the #76 of Scott Champion. Closing the gap as the clock ticked away, with the race reaching it’s final minutes, Marquier was finally able to make a move with less than two minutes to go. Now into 13th, with the San Diego crowd on their feet with an intense battle up front, Chase was then capable of cruising home for his second solid finish in as many weeks. It’s been a strong start to the season for the privateer and round three, next weekend, shows promise as the #99 looks to continue his recent success. With a 12th and a 13th under his belt, the top-ten seems to be the next stop for the Oklahoma rider.
