Jo Shimoda ended the 2017 season with stellar podium finish in the Amateur All-Star class at Monster Energy Cup as well as a handful of top five finishes at the Thor Winter Olympics. The FC Honda rider em- ployed ultimate consistency throughout the day of racing at Angels Stadium in Anaheim. He kept it smooth and composed during practice, eyeing things up for the races to come. Shimoda didn’t get perfect jumps out of the gate in his heat races and found himself on the edge of the podium, but he was able to regroup and clinch third position in the Amateur All-Star class as well as 250 B and Open B. His consistency con- tinued in the main events as a better reaction out of the gate propelled him into a better position, earning second position across the board in all three main events that he contested.
