Weston was ready to get back to racing in New York on Saturday morning. The track suited his style, as it required strength and control to go fast. Weston showed impressive speed as the day began and qualified an impressive 5th place. When the gate dropped for 450 moto 1, Weston got off to a decent start and was running 6th place early on. Teammate, Nicoletti went down and allowed Weston to take over 5th place. After that, Weston put down solid laps and maintained his position. By the time the checkers flew, he had done everything he needed to do, as he took 5th place. Weston got a decent start when the gate dropped for the second moto and was sitting around 6th by the end of the first lap. Weston then made a pass on Dean Wilson and capitalized on another rider’s mistake to take 4th place. He slipped back to 5th almost
right away and was doing everything he could to maintain the top five position. Then, Tomac began to make a charge on Weston and he was doing a fantastic job of holding him off. Eventually, he lost the position and was sitting in 6th as they neared the halfway point. Peick continued his charge and was keeping 5th place, Nicoletti honest. He made a charge and was able to make the pass over his teammate. They battled quite a bit but it seemed Weston would take the position. Then, almost suddenly, Weston and his teammate fell victim to three hard charging riders in Wilson, Noren, and Barcia, and would fall back to 8th and 9th, respectively. Nicoletti then got back around Peick who was now sitting in 9th with two laps to go. It seemed Weston was ready for the day to be over as he slowed way down. He would hold on for 9th, which was good enough for 7th overall on the day.
