JORDAN JARVIS
Jordan Jarvis had another exceptional year chock-full of races, number one plates, and podium finishes -- nothing out of the ordinary for the teenage North Carolina native. After coming off of her second and third Loretta Lynn’s National Championship at the end of 2016, Jarvis picked up right where she left off at the Millcreek Spring Classic, winning three national titles. The Daytona RCSX,
Oak Hill, and the JS7 Freestone Spring Championship produced seven more number one plates for the Triangle Cycles backed Yamaha rider, complet- ing an ultra successful run of form throughout the beginning of the 2017 season. Although Jarvis wasn’t able to find exactly the same success in the lat- ter half of the season, she still managed a second place in the Girls (11-16) class at Loretta Lynn’s. The North Carolina native raced the Monster Energy Cup for the second year in succession, finishing thirteenth in the Supermini class against the boys before heading to The Motoplayground Race at Ponca City where she added two more overall victories to her collection. Jarvis claimed two national titles at Mini O’s in late November and recorded one of her best national finishes in the Supermini class in the form of a seventh place, setting her up for a new challenge in 2018. She started the new year competing in the A class at both Amateur Arenacross and Supercross events, recording fifth and sixth place finishes against some top drawer talent.
JAZZMYN CANFIELD
It was apparent from the very start of her amateur motocross career that Jazzmyn Canfield was the real deal, setting a record as the youngest ever competitor to win the Girls (9-11) class in her Loretta Lynn’s debut back in 2011. The Floridian has since added three more number one plates to her tally at the Ranch which are complemented by three separate second place finishes, making her one of the most successful women actively racing amateur motocross. The Yamaha rider got off to a flying start in 2017 as she recorded first and second place finishes at the Daytona RCSX, later adding to
her spring national success with another podium finish at the JS7 Freestone Spring Championship. Canfield had a bike malfunction that kept her off the overall podium in the Girls (11-16) class at Loretta Lynn’s Ranch in August, but she was still able to redeem herself with a second place overall in the Women (12+) Amateur class after some of the best battles of the week against Jordan Jarvis and Hannah Hodges. Canfield kept up her consistency as the 46th annual Thor Winter Olympics got underway in her home state of Florida, finishing on the overall podium in all four of her classes to cap off a stellar 2017 season.
