The Yamaha duo established themselves as two of the prominent frontrunners in the class last year as they have experience on their side -- Gerloff reinforced that notion at the opening round of the season at Circuit of the Americas. The Texan impressed
at his home race as he picked himself up out of the gravel trap in quali- fying, swiftly remounting his machine in order to capture pole position in the final breath of the session. The twenty- one year old went on to finish third in the race after an intense battle with Valentin Debise, leaving room for improvement at Road Atlanta where he was able to capture both vic- tories one year ago.
