ANDREW SHORT
As the tour headed to Indiana last week for round twelve at Ironman MX raceway, Andrew Short came not only into the final round of 2016 but also his 17-year career. Looking at the long road that Shorty has taken through the past decade and a half, the career #29 has ridden for Suzuki, Honda and KTM on multiple
factory teams with his fair share of success. As a 125/Lites rider, Short posted eight wins and four podium championship overalls and a long list of hard fought battles. On the big bikes, race wins were a lot scarcer, his sole win coming at Seattle in 2012, but Andrew’s consistency was a standard in the premier division, finishing on the podium six times in the overall standings and in the top
10 eleven times out of nineteen total series. It’s quite an impressive resume but what you may not know is that Shorty has consistently been a team developer, testing products and settings to improve his team, not just himself. A true character that has only brought positivity to a sport with plenty of tension. His off-track influence is second-to-none and his reputation, flawless. As he headed out for his last two 30-minute plus 2 lap motos, all Shorty had left to do was stay off the ground and enjoy the experience.
