Not quite getting the start that Ciancurulo has been used to as of late, moto one still started inside the top 10 for AC. Trying to throw it down early, Adam locked on with Savage and made a move around Tonus and into the top five. Battling, Alex Martin joined the party passing both the Kawasaki riders early on. Shortly after Mar-
tin got by, Adam had a momentary lapse, tipping the bike over and losing a few spots back to 7th. Getting around a fading Mitchell Harrison, Adam got himself into 6th, putting four of the green bikes into the top six spots. Holding onto the position and holding off Cooper Webb, Ciancurulo might have been the hardest working rider on the track as he charged through the thick Ironman soil. With the inevitable breathing down his neck and him using every inch to keep the #44 in front of the #17, Ciancurulo lost the 6th spot to Webb as the 2016 champ continued his momentum onward. With two to go, Adam pushed with everything he had to get around the #42 of Oldenburg who faltered late in the race and was successful in earning a 6th. Moto two was a similar story as Adam got a strong jump and latched on to the lead group from the start. Having reached a solid level of endurance being healthy through all twelve rounds, Adam outlasted the mistakes and potential fade to finish the last moto in 5th place. A 6-5 moto score was good enough for 5th overall and with that it’s official, Ciancurulo has successfully finished his first full series of his professional career with an 8th in the 2016 stand- ings. Having a question mark in the ride column for next year, the season could very well be the saving grace for the young Phenom. If Indiana was any proof, there’s more to come so he most likely won’t be going anywhere.
