As Cunningham inserted his position into the selected gate, tearoffs stacked to the brim, the bike appearing as a giant sponge with all of the foam it carried, the Motorcycle Superstore Suzuki was rar- ing to go. A start inside the top 15 place Kyle Cunningham in familiar territory, but still eager to push
forward and battle with some of the brightest youngsters on the planet. With teammate Jimmy Albertson trail- ing, the bumble bees attached and hovered near the 14th and 15th positions for a while, while they sorted through the hog pin, otherwise known as the muddy, Crawfordsville track. Lap after lap, Cunningham held a solid pace, running consistent laptimes and proving that his off the bike training was worth while. Never faltering, he would go on to finish a respectable 13th. With elbows dropping, feet dangling, and rear end dancing, Cunningham was storming to a 12th place spot in the opening sequences of moto number two. Jousting amongst names such as Justin Hill, and RJ Hampshire, and being a Dallas Cowboy, this wasn’t Cunningham’s first rodeo. He remained composed, dragging the footpegs through the dark, rutted Indiana terrain, skying down the absurd elevation changes. The hardpacked surface made Cunningham rethink his style, as mistakes began to add up, forc- ing him near the bottom half of the teen positions. Never letting off until the checkered flag flew, KC would bring home an 18th place finish and 18th overall.
