Dean was ready to prove himself as the rain fell down on Saturday morning in Indiana. He qualified 7th and lined up to the gate with confidence. Dean got off to a fantastic start when the gate dropped for the first moto. He was running 4th early on as they navigated the deep ruts. Unfortunately, the track got the best of him as he shuffled back to 9th quickly. He then put together ten solid laps, but lost one more
position as they neared the halfway point. Things stayed calm for Dean and he rode solid laps all the way to the finish. He took the top ten and would go to the next moto looking for more. Dean got a similar start when the gate dropped for the last time of 2016. He was running in the familiar 10th position again and began to put down solid laps. He slowly reeled in the next guy and was able to make the pass for 9th as they neared the halfway point. As the moto came to a close, Dean was doing everything he could to make it to the end. Unfortunately, he made a mistake and slipped back to 12th by the time the checkered flag flew. Dean would take 12th overall in the last race of the season.
