>> Talon Hawkins has the potential to be one of the next greats for the sport of Motocross and Supercross. His talent was on full display in the Lazy E arena
in Guthrie Oklahoma. In the 85 SR (12-13) class, Talon took control of his heat race and was gladly rewarded with the win. When the gate finally dropped for this highly anticipated Main, Talon launched off the gate and was one of the first bikes to the corner. Unfortunately, he did not get his bike slowed down as soon as he wanted but still came out of the corner in good contention. He was now running 3rd place as the beehive of mini bikes made their way through the first few corners. Over the next few laps, he kept his focus and was keeping the mistakes to a minimum. He continued to lay down steady laps as he watched Myers and Reynolds battling right in front of him. He was calculating his time
to strike and by lap 4, he had crept right up to the rear fender of Myers. Just as Talon was about to make the pass, a mistake by Myers made it easy for him and he secured 2nd place. Over the next two laps, Talon posted the fastest laps and was doing his best to close in on a distant Jett Reynolds. Talon continued to keep his head down and in the next lap, a last minute mistake by Reynolds handed the lead over to Hawkins. Talon happily took over the 1st place posi- tion as he began to put down blistering fast laps to be sure he kept the lead. He continued to be the fastest rider on the track all the way through the checkered flag and was ecstatic to take the well-deserved win.
