MARVIN MUSQUIN
450 SX / 13TH
IMAGE / MPG WORDS / MATTINGLY DESIGN / WILSON
>> With a portion of Toronto being native French, the aura of style was put on blast for the weekend, each rider doing their best to replicate and maneuver the track with a European flare. Anytime a millisecond could be shaved, a section could be wheelied, or sections could be scrubbed, Marvin Musquin was doing it. It almost looked as if he were taking a page out of the French SX handbook; trying to mimic Jean Micheal Bayle or Christophe Pourcel’s zest they tend to put on the respective courses
with their abstract line choice. He knew coming into the main event that creativity would play into his favor, as the main lines would get so deep they wouldn’t be able to be conquered, and probably would slow down his laptimes when all was said and done. He had to think of an innova- tive strategy, and fast; otherwise the pack would overwhelm, engulf, and spew him out all in an instant. The sequence would begin in turn one, fighting, jousting his way through the field as they began to create an identity of their own. Marvin Musquin had been battling a case of the flu all week, and his temperature and overall feeling of his well-being was as fluctuating as his position on the track during the main event. A decent start, found him battling amongst a sea of chaos throughout the field in eighth place across timing and scoring. He couldn’t seem to adequately find a position each lap through this treacherous rhythm section; the transitions being as combed out as any tailor-fit barbershop you could find, any mistake was critical, and Marvin was unfortunately replicating them lap after lap. Moving as high as 11th at one point, a mistake would find him dropping back to 13th, trailing Justin Bogle and moving around Malcolm Stewart. The number 25 baguette of the French wonder would reside in 13th by race end; looking to soar to new heights at the next round.
