>> Owen Covell put his KTM out front in a hurry ahead of Zane Spires and James Clough. Covell broke away from the ensuing riders with absolutely no resistance as he built a
gap over the opening lap that appeared to have been crafted over full race distance. Aiden Dickens moved onto the po- dium over the course of the second lap with Clough main- taining his position in 3rd. As the white flag was flown, Covell held a gap of approximately 10 seconds over the fellow KTM rider in 2nd position. Dickens actually managed to pull back a couple of tenths on the leader, but Covell had already done the damage at the beginning of the moto. He was able to complete a nearly flawless race as he held onto the lead and put himself in contention for the overall victory heading into the second moto.
