>> Carter Halpain carried the momentum that he gained throughout the supercross portion of the week straight onto the motocross track as he rocketed out to an early lead on his EBR backed Yamaha. The Texan lead the race ahead
of his fellow statesman, Zane Merrett, as the both of them separated themselves from the pack. Halpain began the race with a miniscule gap over the KTM rider, but he was able to respond to the pressure with a streak of unbelievably consis- tent lap times that contributed to his growing gap in the lead. He was able to put approximately one second into Merrett with each revolution of the track. Halpain showed off the strengths of the 250cc Yamaha as he transferred his smooth style from the beginning sx track to the mx track. The young Texan put himself in the best position possible going into his second moto in order to pad the Yamaha trophy cabinet and add another #1 plate his tally on the week.
