>> Kaitlyn Morrow flew into the first corner ahead of the Kawasaki of Hannah Hodges and the Suzuki of Mackenze Tricker. Hodges squared up the first corner and got the drive coming down toward the gator pit, scrubbing her way under- neath the Yamaha of Morrow as the three of them began to spread out. Hodges set the pace from the head of the field, but Morrow was able to match her speed and close back
in on the leader. The Team Green Kawasaki rider held an advantage of 1 second over the line as she attempted to
hit her marks and clock consistent lap times, keeping the Yamaha of Morrow at bay. The leading duo gapped Tricker as they pushed each other to another level in the battle for the lead. Morrow was able to turn the fastest time at the mid-point of the moto, continuing to pile the pressure on the Florida native out front. Meanwhile, Kylie Fasnacht circu- lated the course in 6th position which would be just enough to wrap up the WMX championship and defend her #1 plate. Hodges pulled the pin on the 5th lap as she stretched out an advantage of approximately 4 seconds over the Yamaha of Morrow, keeping her laps more consistent and showing off her superior fitness as the moto wore into the latter stages. As Hodges took the white flag, she held almost an 8 second advantage over 2nd place which allowed her to ride calm and composed on her way to the checkered flag. She took the first moto victory in dominant fashion and set herself up for the overall as Kylie Fasnacht wheelied across the finish line with the championship in hand.
