>> Owen Covell grabbed the holeshot and the early advan- tage ahead of Adler Caudle and the two KTM’s began to break away from the pack almost immediately. They matched the pace of one another from the get-go as they attempted to gap the rest of the field. Caudle set the fastest lap of the race on the first flying lap, bringing him within striking distance of his fellow KTM rider. Covell was able to respond and man- age the gap at about 1 second throughout the midway point of the moto. Meanwhile, Cobra’s Casey Cochran worked his way back from 5th on the first lap; he made moves to work himself into 4th with only one lap to go. The final lap was full of drama and action as Covell dropped out of the lead and Caudle took it over. Also, Cochran worked his way from 4th to 2nd within the frame of just one lap. The leading trio will definitely be a group to watch come the second motos as they were on another level than their competition.
