BOBBY FONG : MOTUL SUPERBIKE ONG
Bobby Fong has been one of the most impressive riders in the 2017 MotoAmerica season from the very first race at Circuit of the Americas. The Quicksilver Latus Motors Kawasaki rider landed on the overall podium in the opening race of the season aboard his stock ZX-10R, mixing it up with the factory level Superbike machines throughout the early stages of the race. In the second race, Fong proved that his speed was no fluke as he sliced and diced with Josh Hayes throughout the first couple of laps on his way to an eventual fourth place finish overall, making it two out of two Superstock 1000 victories to start the season. Fong carried that momentum into Road Atlanta where he remained one of the fastest Superstock 1000 riders throughout the entire weekend. He was involved in a race-long scrap with the Westby
Racing Yamaha of Mathew Scholtz that ended with the Kawasaki rider finishing in second position at the checkered flag. He was determined to get back to winning ways in the second race, but an incident with another rider at the end of the back straight away put him off of the racing line and into the gravel trap, therefore ending his weekend early. Despite the DNF in the fourth race of the season, Fong’s speed and consistency allowed him to stay at the top of the Superstock 1000 points chase heading into VIR. The Quicksilver Latus Motors Kawasaki team was able to get their hands on some new racing parts for the ZX-10R after Road Atlanta, putting Fong right where he needs to be to extend his points lead at the third round of the series in Virginia.
