>> As the 2017 season approached it was unknown where Weimer
was going to be. He didn’t have a ride lined up and contracts where not there. Fortunately for the #12 he was able to capitalize from a injured rider and find support within Suzuki teams. Now Weimer is riding for the JGR Suzuki team as a fill in rider. The season hasn’t gone great for the former Lites Champion and it is expected to that this might be Jakes final season. Weimer is a great fill in rider and probably will receive this roll on a team in the future, but a contract might be too much to ask as of right now. This weekend in Detroit went okay for Jake, he finished 8th place
in his heat race ahead of some good riders and was just behind top 10 main event riders. Jake got a good jump in his semi, fighting for a quali- fying position right away. Jake settled in for 4th place and was getting prepared for the main event. A long list of Suzuki riders went down in the first turn of the main event including the #12 of Weimer. Jake was near last place when the field cross the finish line for the first time. Detroit was such a fast paced track and it was hard to make up positions. Jake had the speed to be well within the top 15 this weekend but after his first cor- ner crash he was only able to get up to 17th. With just 5 rounds left in the 2017 Supercross series, it will be interesting if Jake can put it together and signify him as a rider who deserves a ride for the next season.
