>> Although the results might now show it Nick Schmidt had a great weekend of racing in Detroit. The privateer Suzuki rider went to Germany in the off season and wrapped up a Supercross title there before coming back to America. Nick has been a main event regular and he continued to show that this weekend in the MotorCity of Detroit. Scmidt has got off to great starts aboard his privateer against the factory riders for most of the year. This weekend was no excep-
tion as you could see the #75 Fly racing rider inside of the top 5 after almost every start this weekend. Nick has been good but usually has to make his way through the LCQ to make it to the main event. In the last chance qualifier Nick rounded out the first turn in third place, by turn 3 he made his way to the lead by Kyle Chisholm. Schmidt was able to gap the field quickly until JGR Suzuki rider Justin Barcia got into 2nd place and chased down the privateer. Nick looked over as Barcia was making about the make the pass, there was not riders next in line so Schmidt didn’t fight for the spot back and settled for 2nd. It was time for the big show and Nick looked comfortable on the line giving his mechanic props before the gate dropped. The #75 California native also known as The Milestone Assassin got another great jump and was running well inside of the top 15 for the first half of the race. Sadly, Nick either crumbled from the pressure, was taken out or anything in between in the second half of the race. On the plus side Schmidt finished one position in front of Chad Reed, that is something to certainly brag about, even if Chad did retire from the race early.
