>> Ford field pays homage to Detroit’s Supercross legacy by the iconic tradition of the track layout going into the stands, and the fans that filled those historic seats were definitely keeping their eyes on Star Racing Yamaha Yamalube rider, Dylan Ferran- dis. He was on fire early on in Detroit after grabbing the fastest lap time in qualifying practice. The 108 had to have been feeling fantastic lining up for his heat race. With challenging obstacles and a greasy track catching riders by surprise with every pass- ing lap, Ferrandis needed to put in a solid ride that would send him to the Main with
a great gate pick. The French rider did just that and finished strong in second place behind Cianciarulo.
As soon as the Main Event gates dropped it was certain that Ferrandis did not want to re-live his seventh place finish in Indy last weekend and was determined to be a front-runner in Detroit. Avoiding carnage in the first turn, Dylan Ferrandis was out front and seemed completely fixated on getting his first career victory. Things got wild for the rider on the Yamaha after Savatgy made a pass for the lead. With ten minutes remaining, Savatgy is down! Ferrandis is back out front with Jordon Smith quickly gaining on him and they soon find themselves making contact in a battle for the lead with Savatgy right behind them. It was a three-way fight for the number one spot
and Ferrandis was leading the pack. Once things started heating up, it started to go downhill for the 108 machine. Dylan Ferrandis found himself going from first to third in half a lap. With one lap to go, it seemed as if Ferrandis had lost the initial spark that he had. Cianciarulo made a final pass on Ferrandis, putting him in fourth place as the checkered flag flew and fifth in overall points standings.
Dylan Ferrandis impressed us by leading a majority of the moto in Detroit, but his undeniably raw speed was not consistent enough to end the night on top. Hope- fully Ferrandis can get the result that slipped from his hands tonight by bringing his speed, as well as consistency and endurance, for the next round in St. Louis.
