>> Tallahassee, Florida native Mitchell Harrison has been impressing all season, especially in his heat races and Detroit was no different. The Star Racing Yamaha Yamalube rider may have not been in the greatest spot immediately following a slippery start, but Harrison rapidly started picking riders off one by one. Mitchell worked his way into fifth and with two laps to go, moved into a comfortable third place spot. The number 45 was headed to the prestigious Main Event with a solid gate pick and was ready to build upon his eighth place finish in Indy last weekend.
With an unforgivingly challenging track laid out before them and
a series that is getting closer to wrapping up, these riders were ready to throw down the gauntlet in what would surely be an exciting Main Event. The thirty-second board glowed as it counted down into the single digits;
it was only mere seconds until the gates dropped. Mitchell Harrison was
off to a great start and was sitting in fifth place. With all of the commotion and excitement between the top four, Harrison was able to ride without too much pressure from other riders for a bit. Towards the end of the moto, Cunningham made a pass on Harrison, putting him in sixth place as he soared by the checkered flag. Mitchell Harrison stayed consistent in Detroit and was successfully able to leave with a better finish than last weekend. Keep an eye out for Harrison; I believe that he is definitely capable of a top five finish in St. Louis.
