All opening rounds bring a fresh start to rider’s expectations for the year. Some racers
just know that they have “it”. Malcolm has had this feeling for years now and proved it at Atlanta
1 this year. With a third place start the Honda rider quickly made his way into second place. Grinding out laps chasing Rock- star Husqvarna’s Martin Davalos, Stewart plowed into to a downed rider in the sand section. Surviving a crash that should have ended his night, he quickly remounted and charged forward. Once settled back into race pace Stewart had enough lead to control his own lines and head on to a second place finish for the night. Even though Malcolm didn’t win he definitely made a statement in the opening round on the east coast.
