>> With the recent track changes made to the Glen Helen Raceway course, many were questioning of how the alterations would be adjusted to, would anyone have the hometrack advantage that was present as ever in recent memory? One rider who’s willing to adjust to anything, is that of Weston Peick. California resident or not, the man knows how overcome any type of variable. Taking a rather unorthodox route to professional stardom, he’s no stranger to fighting in the trenches, whether it be a local race, an amateur championship at Loretta Lynn’s, or a pro national. Coming into practice,
the UFC light heavyweight felt rather comfortable on this newfound piece
of track, being rather creative with his lines, going off the cuff if you will.
He would push, into a solid qualifying position, and into moto number one. Hitting the competiton with a stiff jab, hook combo, he would rally to eighth place start, just behind Dean Wilson. There was no smooth, diligent, precise timing for the number 32, he was simply plowing through the biggest, most treacherous lines the course had to offer, and making great time doing it. His stature was paying dividends, fighting with the likes of Jason Anderson and Broc Tickle. Although fading just a bit near the end, he would bring home the ninth place line by the checkered flag. Off the stool for round two, he was steamrolling the competition into the speedway right-hander. Ninth across timing and scoring, he quickly worked around Martin Davalos, hooking onto Justin Bogle. Pushing past Justin Barcia near the halfway point, the top five was just on the end of his glove, the tip of his hand fidgeting to grab hold of the number 19 and wrestle him down. With his aggression pouring out the sides of his helmet, he would come across the line just short of the Oklaho- man, a quick slap to the barpad, as he knew what he could have done when everything worked together. He would go home with a solid fifth overall.
