>> Martin Davalos was able to grab a fourteenth place overall finish at Hangtown last weekend and was on the hunt for something better at round two. Glen Helen was definitely a “rebound race” for many riders that felt the first round jitters got the best of them. In the first moto, the Rockstar En- ergy Husqvarna rider out of Ecuador was off to a tough start when he came off the line in the twenty-second place position. Davalos knew that he had some work to do if he wanted a finish better than round one. Lap after lap, the number 30 worked his way through the pack and by the halfway point
he found himself in the sixteenth place spot. Martin Davalos started out the moto energized, but he was unable to make any more passes during the second-half of the race, and he was still in sixteenth when the checkered flag flew. Going into the second moto, Davalos needed to get a good start and take advantage of his “beginning of the race” speed and strength. The thirty-second card went up...and they were off. Martin Davalos came off the gate in an awesome eighth place position and needed to take advantage of this moment if he wanted a decent overall finish for the day. Hopping and skipping through the unpredictable and grueling terrain, Davalos stayed strong and proved that he was worthy of the good start that he got and finished the second moto in ninth place. Martin Davalos ended his day with a thirteenth place overall, and if he can do what he did in moto two in both motos next weekend at Thunder Valley, I can definitely see the number thirty breaking into the top ten.
