>> California native, Sean Cantrell, has turned a few heads in his brief time spent racing professional motocross. The rookie made a splash
at the opening round of the season by nearly holeshotting his very first gate drop and running up front for multiple laps. Rookies are typically unpredictable and sometimes vulnerable to mistakes that seasoned vets don’t make but this rookie has been steady. Round 2 would lead Cantrell to a track that he has raced most of his life. He along with most riders who come from California has turned many laps at Glen Helen. Cantrell would try to use his familiarity with the facility to his advantage. Starts are a key to success at a track like Glen Helen. Sean started the race inside the top 10 in 6th place. He held his position for a long period of the race before he faded slightly late race falling back to 10th. That is a quality fin- ish for a rookie in just his third ever pro moto. The start of the final moto of the day wasn’t quite what we have seen from Cantrell in the previ-
ous races. He was mid pack on the first lap and made his way into 12th with 17 minutes plus 2 laps remaining. He would climb as high as 10th place before losing that spot to a hard charging Jeremy Martin just after the halfway mark. He went on to finish 11th which put him in 12th place overall for the weekend. Sean has shown signs of serious speed early on in his career and should improve as he gains more experience.
