>> Lorenzo Locurcio burst onto the American amateur motocross scene with strong performances after leaving his home country to take an opportunity in our series. The Venezuelan transplant has made himself at home in the Unit- ed States training at Millsaps Training Facility. He has a good team around him and is looking to rise up in the ultra-competitive 250 class. The opening round of the season was not ideal for a rider who wishes to finish inside of the top 15 or at least improve from last season when he was a rookie in the class. He struggled to break inside the top 20 and only managed 18-17 moto scores on the day. The second round of the 2017 series proved to be another challenge to the young man. His best chance at running up front and gaining knowledge is to get an exceptional start. Up to this point in the season he has been unable to start inside of the top 10 and remain there on the opening laps. He was buried at the beginning of moto 1 and was only able to climb into 17th before the race ended. The track was rough and developed multiple lines but he was unable to capitalize and make passes any further inside the top 20. He improved slightly on his moto 1 finish by finishing 14th in moto 2. This is where Lorenzo sees himself and where he expects to finish. Those results would earn him 15th overall on the weekend. The young rider has
the talent to finish there or better every moto this summer. We will see if he can use this finish as a stepping stone into the next round of the season and keep improving his finishes.
