KILPATRICK
There was an incredible battle for the lead at the start of the opening Supermini 2 moto as Thrasher found himself in a sandwich between Kaeden Amerine and Jeremy Ryan on the opening lap. He stayed right within the wheel tracks of the KTM ahead of him and eventually made the move into the lead on the third lap, but the race was far from over as Jeremy Ryan moved into second place with two laps to go. Thrasher was able to resist the pressure from his fellow Kawasaki rider and hold onto a half second advantage at the finish line, putting himself in the driver’s seat heading into the final moto. It was another solid start for the Tennessee native, settling into third position in the early stages of the race. He quickly promoted himself into second place on the first flying lap with his sights set on Amerine in the lead, but he was well aware that the second place was enough to take the number one plate. Thrasher still charged forward and set the fastest time of the moto on the penultimate lap, but it wasn’t enough to catch Amerine. Nonetheless, the KTM rider ended up receiving a penalty and he was credited with the win, providing him with a perfect score and the number one plate.
