KILPATRICK
Reed was pushed wide in the first turn of the exploding start, suffering from a below average gate pick.
With the sweeper heading straight into a peaked rhythm, Reed was unable to push hard in the first section forcing him to settle in 12th be- hind Weston Peick. Finally finding the right tempo over the next few laps, Reed latched on the back of Peick, following his way around Bogle into 11th. An error by Weston allowed Reed by for 10th where he would pass Alessi for 9th shortly after. With a persistent assault, Reed con- tinued to push the blue machine past his younger adversaries. Using an experienced block pass on Brayton for 8th on lap 15, Reed, at last, crossed the checkered flag in 7th, after passing the stumbling Tomac near the finish. Not quite the level of his recent 4th place finishes, the thunder from down under never fails to throw it all down on the track each and every week this season, Indianapolis being the most recent battlefield. Producing another top 10 result, it’s obvious that Reed still sees light left in his flame and last Saturday, we all witnessed more of it’s glow. In his current form, there sure seems to be more luminosity in store for Team #22 heading into the season’s last few races.
